Halloween recipe

Hello everybody, it's Halloween today! I don't like it too much, but I guess there's people who like that...

Anyway, here's a recipe of a spooky brain cake!
This recipe is not mine, it's from a Youtuber named Rosanna Pansino (I posted her channel before). I hope you enjoy it!

It's a red velvet cake with marshmallow fondant and sweet raspberry "blood".

Ingredients:

For the red velvet cake

- 4 ounce of unsalted butter
- 2 cups of sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 1 teaspoon of red gel colour
- pan spray
- 1 tub of cream cheese frosting

For the rasperry blood

- 1 + 1/4 cup of seedless raspberry jam
- 2 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon of red gel colour

For the marshmallow fondant

- 10 ounces of mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons of water
- 6 cups of powder sugar
- 1/4 shortening, just for greasing your hands

Let's get started!

For the red velvet cake

- Preheat your oven to 150ºC
- In a bowl, mix your dry ingredients
- Cream the butter until it's creamy, and add the sugar slowly until it's light and fluffy
- Ïn another bowl, mix the eggs and the vanilla, add it to the butter mixture and mix it up
- In another bowl, mix the sour cream and milk.
- Alternate dry mixture and milk mixture to the butter mixture and add a little food colouring.
- Grease a glass, heatproof bowl and pour in the mixture. Slow bake about 1'30 hours.
- Let it cool, take it off the bowl, and level the cake. Put the flat part down.
- Frost the cake with the cheese frosting

For the rasperry blood

- In a small pan, whisk everything except the food colouring and bring it to boil in medium heat. Once is boiled, put the food colouring, mix until it's well combined and let it cool.

For the marshmallow fondant

- Pour the marshmellows into a heatproof bowl and add water to cover them
- Microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat two more times to make it smooth
- Sift 3 cups of powder sugar in a bowl and make a hole in the center. Pour there the melted marshmallows. Without removing, sift the rest of the powder sugar on top of the marshmallows
- Grease your hands. Knead the mixture of sugar and marshmallows until it's not sticky in your hands

Decorate!

- Roll out the fondant into 1/2 inch thick ropes, and arrange them as a brain
- Use a paintbrush to brush the raspberry blood over the fondant

That's it! I hope you like it if you try!
